California-based dance duo Guns N Bombs have been called "America's answer to Justice" and have received praise in the blogosphere for their "dirty robot rock." Consisting of Filip Nikolic (former member of Junior Senior and now the bassist for Ima Robot) and Johnny Love (founder of Chicago's Opaque Project), the group formed in 2006 and released an EP of original material on hip French label Kitsune (home to Hot Chip and Digitalism and run by Daft Punk co-manager Gildas Loaec).
The Montreal Mirror called GNB "unpretentious and unforgivingly badass... they give Paris's New French Touch a run for its money," and the group's remixes of buzz acts like Klaxons and the Teenagers have wound up in the sets of superstar DJs like Paul Van Dyk and Benny Benassi; Chromeo's Dave 1 called GNB's treatment of their song "Fancy Footwork" the "best remix anyone's ever done of us." Currently finishing remixes of the Gossip and Junior Senior, GNB is also working on its debut album, which will feature vocals from Peaches, Yelle, and Ari Up of the Slits. When not in their studio in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, the group can be found performing at venues like Fabric in London and Womb in Tokyo. |
