David E Sugar, multi- instrumentalist troubadour and 8-Bit electronic wonder teams up with Kitsuné for a single and shows two sides of his gifts with a songwriting gem and a dancefloor vitalizer. Turning down Malcolm Mc Laren’s offer of a free Game Boy in favour of doing his own thing, David E Sugar is proving right with his excellent single on Kitsuné. The West London producer and 25-year-old Warwick University philosophy graduate, acknowledges the need to be innovative and creative but finds importance in doing it on his own, that’s why he stepped away from the Chip Music movement from his early beginnings and re- visited his multiinstrumentist roots. The single on Kitsuné is full of fresh creative energy coming from one of the most intensely prolific producers in the London scene. ‘To Yourself ‘ and ‘The Big` show how eclectic Sugar’s influences are : “ I’m into Aphex Twin as well as Talking Heads, Jeff Buckley and Tom Waits “; he says. ‘To Yourself’ a chic song tailored by a dance child and gifted voice, the production can do no wrong with those slighty growing breaks and chip solos (sic) ‘The Big H’ is the dance track as imagined by a punk philosopher, “ being innovative and creative but doing it on your own’ says Sugar. A stressed atmosphere with handclaps too ! A compressed bass and the dancefloor is entering a new time capsule through David’s opened door. ‘ The Future is lookin particularly sweet for this 8-bit electronic wonder ‘ Terence The – Dazed &Confused
